Trinidad State remained just under .500 on the season as they dropped a pair of games on Saturday to Western Nebraska but rebounded on Sunday to sweep past McCook.
On Saturday, the wind was extreme and neither team could keep their opponent off of the base paths. The two games saw a combined 47 runners cross home plate. Unfortunately for the Trojans, Western Nebraska made just enough plays each game to pull off the sweep. Game one saw the Trojans gather 18 hits, but still fall 18-13. In game two TSJC hit four home runs, coming off the bats of Roni Beavers, Avery Boccella (2) and Katie Glaze, but still fell 10-6. With the losses the Trojans dropped the season series to the Cougars 4-2.
On Sunday TSJC still had the bats going, but freshman pitcher Teddi Garcia kept the Indians in check from the circle. Garcia went the distance in both games, striking out 11 while she picked up a pair of wins. She had plenty of run support as the Trojans bashed 27 hits, including six more home runs, this time coming off the bats of Katie Glaze (2), Gabby Gonzalez, Darian Morlan, Alyssa McWilliams and Avery Boccella. The sweep gave the Trojans the 5-1 season series win over McCook.
For the weekend, Glaze went 8-for-15 at the plate, scoring nine runs and driving in ten RBI's. She finished with three home runs and a pair of stolen bases. The Trojans are currently tied for second with Otero in the region standings behind Lamar. TSJC (16-18, 8-8) will host Northeastern Junior College (13-19, 5-11) for a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
