Margareth Collantes, originally from Peru, has built her life and career around the sport of volleyball. She grew up playing the game in both Peru and Brazil, developing a deep love for the sport that carried her through college and into her professional career as a coach.
Collantes began her collegiate journey at Trinidad State College, where she competed for the Trojans and made an immediate impact as a versatile and passionate player. She later transferred to Florida National University in Miami, where she helped her team capture the 2021 conference championship—an experience that further solidified her dedication to volleyball at the highest level.
Holding a Level 3 National Coaching Certification in Peru, Collantes is currently advancing on the path toward earning certification from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). She also brings strong academic credentials to her coaching, with a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science/Pre-Med and a Master’s degree in Teaching from Hastings College.
Her coaching journey began six years ago and has already spanned multiple levels of the game. She served as an assistant coach with the Hastings College Broncos for two seasons, gaining valuable experience working in collegiate athletics. She also coached with the Nebraska Volleyball Academy in Kearney, Nebraska, where she trained and mentored athletes across various age groups, focusing on skill development, competitive play, and fostering a love for the game.
Beyond the U.S., Collantes is the founder of a non-profit volleyball club and foundation in Peru. Through this program, she provides opportunities for children—regardless of background or financial circumstances- to experience the joy and discipline of sports. Her mission is to give back to the community by creating pathways for youth, inspired by the doors that volleyball has opened for her throughout her own life.
Collantes’ coaching philosophy centers on hard work, discipline, and teamwork, while also emphasizing personal growth, resilience, and character development. She believes that volleyball is more than just a sport; it’s a platform for teaching life skills, building confidence, and creating lifelong connections.
Margareth is married to Phillip Willett, and the couple resides in Trinidad, Colorado. She continues to dedicate her career to inspiring athletes, growing the game, and building programs that positively impact young players both on and off the court.
